    🛏️ What size bed frame should I buy for my room?

    As a general rule, leave at least 60cm of walking space on each side of your bed. A standard UK double bed (135cm × 190cm) fits most bedrooms. For master bedrooms, a king size (150cm × 200cm) or super king (180cm × 200cm) offers more comfort. If you have an awkward space, our custom size beds are made to your exact room measurements.

    📦 What is the difference between an ottoman bed and a divan bed?

    An ottoman storage bed uses a gas-lift hydraulic mechanism to raise the entire mattress platform, revealing a large under-bed storage compartment — ideal for bedding, clothes, and luggage. A divan bed has a solid base with integrated pull-out drawers instead. Ottoman beds offer more total storage volume, while divan drawers provide easier access to smaller items.
    🪵 Are upholstered beds better than wooden beds?
    Upholstered beds offer superior comfort for reading and sitting up in bed thanks to the padded headboard. They also absorb sound better than wooden frames, making them ideal for apartments and terraced houses. Our handmade upholstered bed frames use solid timber inner frames, so you get the strength of wood with the comfort of fabric.
    ⏰ How long does a handmade bed last compared to a flat-pack bed?
    A mass-produced flat-pack bed typically lasts 3–5 years before joints loosen or slats crack. Our handmade beds are built with solid timber frames, mortise-and-tenon joints, and reinforced slat systems designed to last 15+ years. We back this with a 5-year structural warranty on every frame — something no flat-pack retailer offers.

     

    🏠 Can I buy a bed frame without a mattress from Restivo?

    Yes. Every Restivo bed frame can be purchased on its own without a mattress. Many customers already own a high-quality mattress and simply need a handmade frame to support it. We build the internal slat spacing to match your existing mattress size and type, whether it is pocket sprung, memory foam, or orthopaedic.

    📏 Can you make a bed to my exact measurements?
    Yes. Unlike high street retailers who only stock standard sizes, we handcraft custom size beds to your exact width, length, and height specifications. Simply provide your measurements at checkout and our Yorkshire workshop will cut the timber frame, slats, and upholstery panels to match.
    📐 What non-standard bed sizes do you offer?
    We regularly make shorty beds (175cm length), extra-long singles and doubles (200cm–220cm length), European sizes (140cm × 200cm, 160cm × 200cm, 180cm × 200cm), and bespoke dimensions for loft conversions, box rooms, and caravans. If you can measure it, we can build it.
    💷 Do custom size beds cost more than standard sizes?
    Custom size beds start from £599 — only £50–100 more than our equivalent standard size. Because we build every bed to order in our Batley workshop, there is no mass-production penalty for bespoke dimensions. You pay for the extra materials and labour, not a "customisation fee."
    🛏️ Will my existing mattress fit a custom Restivo bed?
    If you already own a mattress, we can build the bed frame to fit it perfectly. Provide your mattress dimensions (width × length × depth) and we will adjust the internal frame and slat spacing accordingly. This is ideal for expensive orthopaedic or memory foam mattresses you want to keep.

     

    ⏳ How long does a custom size bed take to make?

    Custom size beds take the same 3–4 weeks as our standard sizes because every Restivo bed is built to order anyway. The only extra step is cutting the timber and slats to your measurements, which adds 1–2 days. You will still receive full real-time tracking through all four milestones.

    Yes. Every handmade bed from Restivo includes free UK mainland delivery. 
    🛠️ What is included in your £39.99 white-glove assembly service?
    Our white-glove service includes carrying all boxes upstairs to your room of choice, unboxing, full frame assembly, headboard anchoring, gas-lift calibration for ottoman beds, and removal of all packaging for recycling. The crew will also give you a 30-minute call before arrival so you are not waiting around all day.
    📅 How long does delivery take for a handmade bed?
    Because every bed is built to order in our Yorkshire workshop, delivery typically takes 3–4 weeks from order confirmation. You will receive real-time tracking through four milestones: Frame Build, Upholstery, Quality Control, and Logistics. Once your bed reaches the final milestone, you can book your exact delivery day and 3-hour time slot.
    🏠 Will the bed fit up my staircase?
    Our beds are delivered in component form — headboard, side rails, slats, and base — and assembled in your bedroom, so they fit through standard doorways and staircases. If you have an unusually narrow staircase or tight loft hatch, contact us before ordering and we can adjust the component sizes or recommend a split-base design.
    📦 What happens if my bed arrives damaged?

    In the rare event that your bed arrives with transit damage or a manufacturing defect, contact us within 14 days with photos. We will arrange a free repair, replacement part, or full re-delivery at no cost to you. This is covered by our 5-year structural warranty and your statutory consumer rights.
